At this time, I accept Aetna and Cigna insurance.

Don’t have insurance and find it difficult to afford full fee therapy? I partner with Open Path Collective to offer low cost sessions to a limited amount of clients. Click here for more information on eligibility.

I’ve never been to therapy before. What should I expect?

If you’re new to therapy, welcome! You can expect the first few sessions to be centered around getting to know one another and setting some goals for treatment. The actual progression or duration of therapy is difficult to predict because it is so individualized. Typically, I like to see clients either weekly or bi-weekly; this usually is the most therapeutically beneficial, particularly in the early stages of treatment.

I often compare starting therapy to going to the doctor for help with an infected wound. What do they have to do? Flush that wound out. You come to counseling because you’re feeling pain; and there’s a good chance you may have to endure more pain in order to heal properly. Try not to feel discouraged if you feel worse before you feel better; although it’s not what we hope for, it is completely normal.

Do you offer in-person sessions?

At this time, all appointments offered are virtual.

Do you treat kids or teens?

No, my focus is working with individual adults.

How do I find the right therapist for me?

Finding the right therapist is crucial. How can you share all the parts of you with someone you don’t feel connected or safe with? My advice is to shop around a bit. Schedule free consultations with those that offer them; if the therapist doesn’t offer a consultation, let them know you want to see if it will be a good fit so that you both are on the same page. Most importantly, DO NOT be afraid to let the therapist know if you don’t think it will be a good fit. Trust me, the therapist will appreciate your honesty, and you deserve to find someone you feel you can connect with.

What do I need for virtual sessions?

The goal for telehealth is to mimic the environment of in-person therapy as much as is possible. The most important things to have are a strong internet connection, a device with a front facing camera and microphone, and a place that offers you confidentiality and privacy.

I do ask that you are alone during your session unless otherwise discussed.

Even if, for instance, you share everything with your partner, you probably still filter or censor yourself to some degree. Rule of thumb: if this person would not attend in-person therapy with you, they should not be present during your virtual visit either.

What’s next?

Request an appointment! You can book either a free 15-minute consultation so that we can get to know one another a bit or jump right into an initial therapy session. Once you are scheduled for that first session, you will receive an email with intake documents to fill out and submit at least 24 hours prior to that appointment. That’s it! You’ll join the session at your scheduled day and time from the link in your email, and I’ll take care of the rest.

Entering into a therapeutic relationship should be done with care. If your questions aren’t answered below, feel free to reach out.
