Individual Therapy

45-50 minute virtual therapy sessions for individuals 18+. Sessions typically occur weekly or bi-weekly, depending on individual client needs.

There are a number of different treatment modalities used in therapy. To ensure each client receives treatment customized to them, I pull from many theories including but not limited to:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Relational Therapy

Solution Focused Therapy

Attachment-based Therapy

This practice utilizes trauma informed interventions and practices cultural humility. All are welcome. Gender-affirming, body positive, sex positive, queer allied, and culturally competent care is the standard.

I work best with clients who are dedicated to healing from past traumas, and are ready to identify ways in which their patterns of thought and behavior affect them today.

The following are just some conditions I treat.

The word 'welcome' in rainbow colors

Various words including trauma, abuse, confusion, PTSD, anger, fear, pain, self-esteem

Abuse

Intimate partner violence, sexual assault, childhood abuse, and neglect. After being victimized, it is essential that you are able to regain a sense of safety in your body, mind, and the world. Therapy, with an emphasis on defining different types of abuse, and rebuilding new, healthy relationships, can be an important step in healing.

Complex trauma

Complex trauma occurs when we experience traumatic experiences, usually abuse or neglect, repeatedly and over long periods of time. This can lead to a multitude of challenges including various mental health diagnoses, difficulty with healthy relationships, and general distrust of self and others. Therapy can help you to process your hardships and gain a deeper understanding of how previous events affect your current patterns of thought and behavior.

Attachment issues

Attachment theory refers to the relationship between infant and caregiver. Long before we have words to express our needs or voice our feelings, we are aware whether our primary caregiver(s) respond to us when we cry, and whether those responses are consistent, intermittent, or non-existent. As a result, we learn whether we can really trust other people to care for us. Attachment issues can often be at the root of having difficulty obtaining and maintaining healthy relationships as an adult.

Depression

With depression, the symptoms include feeling apathetic and isolating oneself…. which then feed the depression even more. Therapy can be helpful in developing coping skills and creating connection to help reduce depressed symptoms.

Anxiety

Assisting you in not only developing coping skills to reduce anxiety but also identifying root causes of anxiety including disordered thinking and underlying fears.

Military affiliated

Helping you navigate the many unique challenges that come from the military experience, from active duty service members, to veterans, as well as their family members.

Life transitions

Big changes in our life, whether negative or positive, planned or unplanned, can have a huge impact on our daily functioning. Oftentimes, change can leave us wondering what’s next, and if you made the right decision. When changes happen that are outside are control, that can often be much harder. Some life shifts in which therapy can be beneficial are: Adjusting to losses and gains; stepping into new roles; or realizing that the path you thought you would go down in life is maybe not what you expected or not possible.

Healthy parenting strategies

Behind every great kid, there’s a parent who’s sure they’re screwing it up. We all want what’s best for our kids, and unfortunately our tiny humans often trigger us, especially if we had needs that were neglected by our own parents and caregivers when we were children. Learning more about attachment theory and the importance of deeply connecting with our children can help you to feel more calm and confident in your tough parenting moments.
